Green Tiger Barb

Green Tiger Barb's display a deep fluorescent green with silver/gold patches and orange-tipped fins. Semi-aggressive but very lively and playful, Green Tiger Barbs are fish that prefer to be in schools. They will thrive in a well-planted tank with soft, slightly acidic water, but do leave plenty of space for swimming. The Green Tiger Barb is a very active fish, but be cautious that they may nip the fins of larger, slower moving fish.

Ease of care
Easy. Very hardy but prefer softer water, semi-agressive, can fin-nip long-finned fish, good with other barbs. Shoaling fish.

Diet
Omnivore - The main food we recommend would be small granules, flake and pellets. Mixing in some live or frozen brine, or other fresh alternatives can help enhance their health.

Compatibility
Semi-aggressive, house with other peaceful fish such as smaller barbs - no long-finned fish, like guppies. Will shoal in larger aquariums.

Breeding
Egg layers, occasional breeders in captivity. If trying to breed Green Tiger Barbs, house a number of Barbs in the same aquarium until they pair off. After a pair has developed, the female will lay the eggs and the male will follow behind to fertilize. The fry will be free-swimming after about a week.

Life Span
They can live to 5+ years in perfect conditions.
