A desirable plant that develops lovely shades of green, purple, red and pink. Typically found in rivers, lakes and swamps. Strong lighting is the key to maintaining this fabulous midground plant, without which it will lose colour. Great background plant in nano aquaria. Plant directly into fine fertile substrate. Do not crowd, it requires wriggle room and gentle water circulation to thrive.
Fertilise Alternanthera reineckii regularly. Will benefit from CO2 but not required for normal growth. Stem cuttings will take root in substrate. Using stems with nodal root increases success rate. Do not remove these roots when they form, they are working parts providing nutrients to the plant.
The colourful leaves provide a nice contrast to other plants in the aquarium.
Supplied loose in a bunch (no pot)
